About
At Habeck Trucking, Inc. our goal is to provide outstanding service to our customers and we pride ourselves on the integrity of our company and our employees.
We believe in old style tradition with new style technology. As a smaller trucking company we know that to be competitive we must offer a service that is superior to other companies. We know from experience that shippers and receivers struggle at times to schedule shipments, coordinate pickup & delivery times and make on time deliveries. Habeck Trucking, Inc. is very proud of its 99.9% on time deliveries. We accomplish this by purchasing and maintaining state of the art equipment; hiring professional, courteous, experienced drivers; and communicating with our drivers and owner/operators on a daily one-on-one basis. We still believe that a handshake and our word is as good as a contract. We are members of the Better Business Bureau of South Dakota.
Our transportation services include full truckload, LTL, dry warehousing, logistics, and a brokerage division. We are licensed and pro rated for 48 states. Our main lanes are from the Midwest to the northwest and back. Our main terminal is located in western South Dakota.
A Little Bit of History :
Mike Habeck was born and raised on a dairy farm in northern Minnesota. His interest in trucks began at a young age as his uncle had local grain trucks and he used to pretend he was driving them. After graduating from High School he moved to California where he got his first truck driving job hauling hay. He spent the next 10 years driving over the road for different companies pulling everything from bull racks to reefers. In 1988 he quit driving and went back to school. At the same time he went to work for Homestake Mining Company in western South Dakota, working underground as a miner. He graduated from college in 1992 with a BA in Business and Accounting.
Mary Hoffman was born in southern California and shortly thereafter moved with her family to western South Dakota where they owned and operated a cattle and horse ranch. Mary spent most of her youth riding horses but also had an interest in trucks at a young age. When the cattle trucks came to the ranch, she would climb in the cab and pretend she was driving. After High School graduation, Mary went on to college for two years competing in College Rodeo. She had several different jobs over the years but eventually ended up working at Homestake Mining Company underground.
This is where Mike and Mary met and 2 years later were married. They quit Homestake in 1992 and joined Mike’s brother and built a large dairy operation. Two years later they had milked enough cows
, so they decided to buy a truck and travel around the country for a while. They spent the first year bouncing between cow trailers, end dumps, reefers, etc. until they decided hauling cattle worked best for a team and seemed to be the most money. Three years later, in 1999, they got out of the cattle business and bought their first reefer trailer. They began hauling loads from the Midwest to the west and Northwest. That has been their main lane ever since. They base their success on hard work, determination, integrity and a great staff. With 27 trucks currently in the expanding fleet the commitment to continue to provide strong support resulted in staffing expansion in 2008.
